In certain situations when it’s necessary to preserve a patient’s oral health, Comfort Dental Care and Orthodontics provides extraction services. Tooth extraction is the careful removal of a tooth whether due to adult teeth coming in (in the case of baby teeth), for instances where disease or decay necessitate removal, or sometimes for other reasons, such as preparing a patient’s mouth for orthodontic appliances.
Sometimes tooth extraction is necessary to preserve the overall health of your teeth and mouth, and the procedure can have a number of benefits. Oftentimes, patients need extraction to facilitate the proper growth of adult teeth (in the case of baby teeth), or if they experience discomfort and require the removal of a diseased or decaying tooth, or to set up mouths for orthodontia such as braces.

A simple extraction to remove a tooth is performed when a tooth can still be seen in the mouth. In the case of a simple extraction, an instrument called an elevator will be used to loosen your tooth, and then forceps are used to remove the tooth.
If necessary, a surgical extraction is more complex and is used when a tooth may have broken off at or below the gum line or has not come into the mouth yet. We will make a small incision into your gum, and if you have a tooth that is impacted, we will skillfully cut away any gum or bone tissue that covers your tooth, and then using forceps, we will grasp the tooth and gently rock it back and forth to loosen and remove it.
